There is something deeply moving about the way the full moon rises into the night sky. No matter how many times I’ve seen it, it always takes my breath away. On 7 October 2025, we will be greeted by the Full Hunter’s Moon — also appearing as a supermoon, glowing brighter and larger than usual.
When I speak of the moon, I often call it “her.” This comes from ancient traditions across the world. Many cultures have seen the moon as a feminine energy — gentle yet powerful, cyclical, connected to intuition, creativity, and renewal. The Romans called her Luna, the Greeks spoke of Selene and Artemis, and in Celtic and Slavic traditions, she was tied to goddesses and feminine archetypes. Even today, the moon is often linked to the Divine Feminine — the softer, reflective energy within all of us. Calling the moon “her” is a way of honouring that connection, bringing warmth and intimacy into the way we relate to her light.
Why This Moon Feels Different
This full moon follows the intensity of last month’s eclipse, which may have stirred emotions or brought hidden truths to the surface. Eclipses often shake us awake; they show us what is ending and where we are being redirected.
Now, under this October supermoon, the energy feels steadier. The Hunter’s Moon doesn’t push us into chaos; instead, it asks us to ground ourselves. To stand still for a moment in the glow of its light and ask:
✨ What is ready to be released from my life, once and for all?
✨ Which part of me is asking to be seen, accepted, and healed?
✨ How can I step into the next season with more clarity, lightness, and truth?
My Reflection
When I stand under the full moon, I often feel a mix of awe and vulnerability. The brightness of her light shows me not just the beauty around me, but also the shadows within myself. Sometimes it’s uncomfortable. Sometimes it feels like she’s reminding me of the things I’ve been avoiding. But it is always an invitation to come home to myself.
This moon, in particular, feels like a mirror. She reflects back the truth that we are whole and complete — even in the moments when we feel fragmented. The cycles of the moon remind me that nothing stays the same forever: growth, fullness, release, and renewal are all natural. My own life is no different.
I often ask myself: if nature trusts this rhythm, can I trust it too? Can I allow what is ending to fall away, without fear, so that I can step into something new?
A Gentle Practice for You
If you feel called, take some quiet time during this full moon. Step outside, even for just a few minutes. Feel the cool air, notice the glow of the moon, and let yourself be present.
Bring a journal with you and reflect on these prompts:
-
What am I holding onto that feels heavy?
-
What lesson from the past month is ready to become wisdom, instead of pain?
-
Where in my life am I ready to choose truth over fear?
If you like, write what you want to release on a piece of paper and safely burn it or bury it in the earth. Let this small act symbolize your willingness to let go.
Ritual Ideas for the Full Moon
The full moon is a beautiful time to create small rituals that connect you more deeply to yourself and to the cycles of nature. Here are a few gentle practices you might try:
🌕 Moon Meditation
Sit quietly under the moonlight, close your eyes, and imagine the light bathing your body. Breathe deeply and let it cleanse away heaviness, stress, and old emotions.
🌕 Charge Crystals or Objects
If you work with crystals, place them on a windowsill or outdoors to soak up the moon’s energy. You can also do this with a journal, jewellery, or any object that holds meaning for you.
🌕 Moon Water
Fill a glass jar with fresh water, set it under the moonlight overnight, and use it the next day as a reminder of your intention. You can sip it mindfully, water your plants with it, or sprinkle it in your home as a blessing.
🌕 Movement Ritual
Dance, stretch, or move your body under the moon. Let it be free and unstructured — a release of whatever no longer serves you.
🌕 Silent Gratitude
Spend a few moments simply standing in the moonlight, naming silently all the things you are grateful for. Gratitude shifts the energy from release to receptivity, making space for new beginnings.
Closing Reflection
The moon teaches us that after every fullness, there comes a release, and after every darkness, light always returns. This Full Hunter’s Moon is here to remind us of that eternal truth.
So as you look up at her light, remember this: you, too, are part of this rhythm. You are allowed to let go. You are allowed to begin again. You are allowed to shine fully, even in your imperfect wholeness.
This October moon whispers to each of us: You are guided. You are supported. You are ready.
With love,
Margaret
